Oxford Road Community School

School Council

School Council plays an important role in everyday school life. They meet most weeks to discuss school issues and projects which can include improving parts of the school, fund raising, planning for competitions and writing bids to raise money. The School Council represent all the children in the school. They listen to their thoughts, suggestions and ideas and make sure the adults listen to them too. They use the ideas to help make our school a better place.

School Council News

Our latest School Council project has been our 'Shoe Box appeal'. We decided that we would like to support local charity, Launchpad, who help homeless people in Reading.

We asked every child in school to donate something small, such as a box of mince pies, a small game, a colouring set etc. We then gathered everything together, wrapped shoe boxes in Christmas paper and shared out the kind donations we received.

In total we managed to fill 22 boxes!

Thank you to the kind and generous donations from our school community. In January, Ele, from the charity is coming into school to explain how our donations were used this Christmas in Reading.
