CultureMix Arts is a local company that provide steel pan tuition for our children, part of the company is RASPO.
RASPO - Reading All Steel Percussion Orchestra - deliver the KS2 In2Music Project to our Year 4 students every week to enable them to learn the art of playing the Steel Pans. These lessons are led by RASPO's tutors and children build up a repertoire of songs that they can play confidently. Children are then able to perform for school events such as Harvest festival and the Christingle.
We are very lucky at Oxford Road Community School to have our own set of steel pans! This means children can learn how to play the instrument every week without leaving the school building. We also have a steel pan club which is led by RASPO's incredibly talented steel pan tutors.
