Learning Stories
Reading Harlie's work has brought so much joy. Seeing that he is able to use his words in the eyes of someone else and bring the story to life is amazing. It shows how capable he is and I am very proud.
Parent reply from a learning story
At Oxford Road Community School we know how powerful capturing moments of incredible learning is for our children. It is also key that we share these moments with parents, carers and families.
We use 'Learning Stories' to share special moments in children's learning journey with parents and children in school. We write these to the child, explaining what we have seen and what learning we noticed. Children receive three learning stories throughout the year, one literacy based, one maths based and one based on the wider curriculum.
Children hear their learning story in an assembly with their classmates. It is then sent home via class dojo. To notify parents they have received a learning story, children bring home a postcard which parents are encouraged to write a reply to the class teacher.
We love hearing feedback from parents. We especially love sharing learning stories with the children. They are proud of their learning and are excited to celebrate it with their peers.
